Beacon of Hope - April 2026
Bula Vinaka!

Dear Friends and Families,
As we step into the beautiful spring season, we're reminded that this time of year represents renewal, growth, and fresh beginnings. With longer days, warmer weather, and blooming surroundings, it's the perfect opportunity to pause and reflect — not just on the season around us, but on the commitment we renew every single day to the families we serve.
This month, I find myself thinking about performance — not in the corporate sense, but in the truest sense of the word. Showing up. Following through. Doing what you said you would do, even when no one is watching — an integrity of character that others can feel before you even speak. It is the quality we look for in every caregiver we place, and the standard we hold ourselves to as a company.
Spring has always felt like the season of that kind of quiet excellence to me. Nature doesn't announce its growth — it simply shows up, day after day, until one morning everything is in full bloom. That's the spirit we bring to every home we enter. Whether it's a medication reminder, a warm meal, or simply being a steady and familiar face on a hard day — those small acts of consistent performance are what hope looks like in practice.
Thank you for trusting us with your loved ones. We don't take that lightly — not for a single day.
Vinaka Vakalevu & God Bless You,
Sue Koroitamana
Caregiver of the Month:
Josh Ulunisau
This month, we are proud to celebrate Josh Ulunisau — and honestly, it's a recognition that has been a long time coming.
Hard-working, dependable, and genuinely devoted to his clients, Josh is the kind of caregiver who simply gets things done. He consistently goes above and beyond what's asked of him without ever needing to be asked twice. Whether it's arriving early, staying late, or anticipating a client's needs before they're even expressed — Josh shows up with his whole heart, every single time.
But what truly sets Josh apart isn't just his work ethic. It's his warmth. The way he walks into a room and makes the person in it feel seen, valued, and cared for. His generous spirit and easy smile reflect the very heart of what we call the Bula Spirit — that deep, joyful commitment to caring for others as if they were family. That spirit isn't something you can train into someone. Josh simply has it.
We are so grateful to have him on our team, and we know the families and clients who experience his care first-hand feel that gratitude even more deeply.
Vinaka Josh!
Parkinson's Awareness Month: Supporting Movement and Independence at Home
Nearly 1 million Americans are currently living with Parkinson's disease, with roughly 90,000 new diagnoses each year — and that number is growing. While there is no cure, the right daily habits and a reliable support system can make a meaningful difference in managing symptoms and maintaining quality of life.
Here's what that looks like in practice:
- Light outdoor walks help maintain mobility. Gentle, regular movement keeps joints flexible and supports balance — two areas that Parkinson's directly affects. Even a short walk around the neighborhood can have a real impact.
- Structured routines support stability. Predictable daily schedules reduce stress and help clients manage symptoms more effectively. Consistency in mealtimes, medication reminders, and rest helps the body and mind stay regulated.
- Proper nutrition and hydration are essential. A balanced diet supports energy levels and overall health. For Parkinson's clients, staying well-hydrated and eating regularly can also help manage medication effectiveness.
- Companionship improves quality of life. Social connection isn't a luxury — it's care. Having a familiar, trusted presence at home reduces isolation, supports emotional wellbeing, and gives families peace of mind.

Brain & Body Boosters for April
Keeping both the mind and body active is one of the most powerful forms of self-care for seniors. Try these this month:
01
Recipe of the Month:
Try a simple blueberry oat smoothie: blend together a handful of fresh or frozen blueberries, half a banana, a scoop of oats, and a cup of almond milk. Blueberries are rich in antioxidants that support brain health, while oats provide steady energy throughout the day. Easy to prepare, gentle on digestion, and delicious.
02
Brain Game of the Week:
Try a daily word search or jigsaw puzzle. Fine motor activities like these engage both cognitive function and hand coordination — areas that benefit greatly from regular, gentle stimulation.
03
Movement Moment:
A simple 10-minute seated stretching routine each morning can help maintain flexibility and reduce stiffness — two of the most common daily challenges for those living with Parkinson's.
04
Hydration Reminder:
Staying well-hydrated helps Parkinson's medications absorb more effectively. Aim for 6–8 glasses of water daily — and pair hydration checks with existing routines like mealtimes to make it easy to remember.
